Within the bleak Russian winter of 1959, 9 skilled hikers set out on an expedition. None of them made it again alive.
When their campsite was lastly found, it instructed a chilling story: tents slashed open, our bodies scattered throughout the snow. The hikers’ accidents have been as baffling as they have been grotesque. One had had his head stoved in; bits of bone had been pushed into his mind. Others have been lacking their eyes and their tongues.
Had the hikers angered the native Mansi tribespeople? Had they witnessed a secret navy experiment? Or had one thing much more unusual and sinister unfolded on Useless Mountain?
